Hosta ‘Don Quixote’ was beautiful last year. The photo above is from 2007. In the winter of 2007/2008 Don Quixote was the victim of the vole attack and the huge crown was quite simply decimated. Despite the devastation, he came back. I took the opportunity to divide him into three tiny plants, two with streaks remaining and one with almost no streaking visible that will probably turn plain green.
I have not yet been able to get Don Quixote to set seeds and I guess that I will have to skip this year as well. Sigh. Don Quixote is a streaked form of ‘Don Stevens’.
