Blue Mouse Ears

Hosta ‘Blue Mouse Ears’ is just about the cutest hosta there is.  Can you think of a cuter plant?  Blue Mouse Ears might be a sport of Blue Cadet but it’s unlike any other hosta you will find.  It has a super thick leaf and petiole with a good waxy coating and powder blue color. 

I purchased my Blue Mouse Ears from Bridgewood Gardens in 2006.  Here it is from late in that year looking a little roughed up:

Blue Mouse Ears is one of only two plants that seemed to increase despite the competition from tree roots that developed in the concrete garden.  Today I took the opportunity to divide BME when I moved him to a new bed.  One BME is now three – giving it more of a chance at survival against the voles.  The first pic in the post was one division, here are the other two:
